The first edition of the final published book of poetry by Amy Judith Levy (1861-1889), poet and writer, who was the third Jewish woman to attend Cambridge University. Closely connected to many influential feminist thinkers, her relationships with other women, among them British writer Vernon Lee (1856- 1935), have led many scholars to include her works within the scope of Victorian lesbian literature. Several of Levy's works were published in Oscar Wilde's magazine, The Woman's World; Wilde, a fervent admirer of her compositions, would write and publish Levy's obituary himself in said magazine after her tragic death by suicide at just 27 years old.
