The second edition of the second collection of poems by Amy Judith Levy (1861-1889), poet and writer. A reprint of the volume issued in 1884, this edition contains an additional sonnet and a translation extracted from 'a volume published in Cambridge in 1881, and now out of print'.

Closely connected to many influential feminist thinkers, Levy's relationships with other women, among them British writer Vernon Lee (1856-1935), have led many scholars to include her works within the scope of Victorian lesbian literature. Several of Levy's works were published in Oscar Wilde's magazine, The Woman's World; Wilde, a fervent admirer of her compositions, would write and publish Levy's obituary himself in said magazine after her tragic death by suicide at just 27 years old.
