A presentation copy of the memoirs of Dame Agnes Elizabeth Weston (1840 –1918), Naval philanthropist and superintendent of the Royal Naval Temperance Society, who for 20 years lived and worked amongst sailors, contributing significantly to Naval reform.

This copy was presented to Sir John Carteret Hyde Seale, 4th Baronet (1881–1964); the presentation bookplate notes its inscribed location as the Royal Sailors' Rest, Portsmouth, one of three Royal Sailors' Rests co-founded by Weston herself.
