AUSTEN, Jane. Mansfield park. A novel..

London. George Routledge and Sons, [1876].
8vo. 288pp. Contemporary gilt-ruled calf, contrasting gilt- tooled red and green morocco lettering-pieces. Rubbed and marked, scoring to boards, light wear to edges. Very occasional light spotting.
A late nineteenth-century edition of Austen's third novel, first published in 1814, and unreviewed until 1821.

The narrative concerns the coming-of-age of the heroine, Fanny Price, who is thrust into the world of her wealthy aunt, uncle, and their intriguing, duplicitous associates. Gilson notes, despite the absence of a date, that this edition was issued in February 1876, 'according to ECB'. Issued as part of Routledge's 'Ruby Series', it is a reprint of their edition of 1857 with a new title page.
