The first sextodecimo edition of French classical scholar Denys Lambin's (1520/21-1572) Lucretius; issued, with emendations by Adrien Turnèbe (1512-1565), due to demand following the success of 1564 quarto with the intention, as the publisher states in his prefatory remarks 'facile foras circumferri'.

Lucretius' only known work, De rerum natura - an epic philosophical poem on Epicurianism - is one of the earliest extant attempts at logical explanation of the universe.
