With an engraved half-title and title page within decorative border. Illustrated by Willy Pogány, with an engraved frontispiece, 13 further chromolithograph plates, two decorative engraved sub- title pages, and numerous in-text illustrations. Uncut in original publisher's gilt-tooled dark green morocco, morocco onlays to upper board. Very lightly rubbed, spine sunned. Light scattered spotting and browning.
The limited, signed first edition of Hungarian illustrator Willy Pogány's (1882-1955) richly illustrated Rubáiyát. A prolific book-artist, illustrating close to 200 works, Pogány was also acclaimed for his work in motion-picture set design, receiving gold medals in Budapest and Leipzig Expo as well as the London Masonic Medal, and becoming a Fellow of the London Royal Society of Art.
