LIFE OF BRIAN
The little irish peasant.
London.
The Religious Tract Society, [s.d., c. 1850]
16mo.
8pp. Original publisher's pictorial yellow wrappers. A trifle rubbed and creased.
A rare survival, in original bright and crisp state, of the eighty-seventh title in the Religious Tract Society's series of eight-page chapbooks for children. The narrative concerns young Brian O'Loughlin, the titular Irish peasant, 'very ignorant in book learning and in the knowledge of holy things', who is liberated from destitution by the kindness of an English gentleman who provides him with a first-class education and lodgings in his stately home.
