A revised and enlarged edition of the collected devotional works of Roman Catholic priest and religious controversialist Arthur O'Leary (1729-1802), including his incendiary Essay on Toleration (1780), one of the most radical statements in favour of religious and political forbearance published in late eighteenth-century Ireland. Initially printed in Dublin in 1781, this first London edition contains an additional chapter entitled 'Thunderstruck's remarks on the nature of giving absolution to popish criminals under sentence of death'.
